I'm a what?

Mom says that I am an "Ambassador To the Breed". What does that mean, I wonder?

Its funny that when I am out at demo's with my mom, I usually get two responses when mom tells them my breed. I am very exotic looking as you can see, and not many people can guess what I am off the tops of their heads (though they usually act like the knew after mom tells them, silly humans).

This is a typical conversation that mom will have with a person:
Person: What kind of dog is he?
Mom: American Bull Dog/Pit Bull Mix
Person: Is he mean?
Mom: No, he is very friendly. It is all in how they are raised and handled, nothing to do with the breed.

I don't get it. Am I supposed to be mean? Am I supposed to bite people? Especially little children, because you should see how many parents snatch their kids away from me. When ever mom says that I am very sweet, I always look at her with wondering eyes. Why do you say that Mom? Are they scared of me?

I don't get why people are afraid of me. I am somewhat big...but I am a gentle giant...really, I am. Sometimes when people ask if I am friendly I bark to say "YES! Wanna play?"

Mom says that people have change their minds about the breed because of me. Is that what makes me an ambassador? Do I get to wear a special vest or anything? Maybe a hat. I like hats.

So next time you see a pit bull or rottweiler, don't run in fear. Ask their owners about them and be educated....no one likes racism, even dogs. Just because I wear a certain kind of coat does not make me inherently mean. I am a good dog and they may be too.

Well, I need a nap now...

Woof. Woof.
Ambassador Ollie

Ps. The picture of me is doing my ambassador duties at The Wisconsin State Fair.

Ollie, people tend to have preconceived notions about different breeds of dogs. But that is their problem, not yours. Once they get to know you they will realize that you are a smart and loving boy, as well as handsome!
